The Medical Literary Messenger encourages submissions from the VCU Community and from authors outside the organization. We seek original, thought-provoking, and unpublished work related to medicine, illness, and the body. If you have a question about what constitutes previous publication, please contact us. We consider simultaneous submissions, but please inform us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.

Four poems
2,000 words for Creative Nonfiction
3,000 words for Fiction
Submissions may be printed anonymously at the author's request.

Please submit a maximum of four poems. Each poem should begin on its own page. Please do not exceed eight pages.
Word limit for fiction is 3,000 words. Please send us your best work!
Word limit for essays are 2,000 words.
